You're checking your email and seeing those open rates climb. 30%. 40%. Sometimes even higher. Your subject lines are working. People are reading your message.
But then... nothing. Radio silence on replies.
If this is you, I get it. It's one of the most frustrating positions to be in with cold email. You've got the hardest part figured out - getting someone to actually open and read what you sent. But somehow it's not translating to conversations, meetings, or clients.
The problem isn't your open rate. The problem is what happens after they open it.
Here's what most people don't understand: opening an email and replying to an email are two completely different things.
Opening is passive. Someone sees your subject line, gets curious, clicks. Takes three seconds. They might be skimming their inbox between meetings, half-paying attention.
Replying is active. They have to stop what they're doing, think about your message, decide you're worth their time, and type something back. That's friction. That's commitment.
So when you've nailed the subject line but your reply rate is terrible, it means your actual message - the body of the email - isn't compelling enough to make someone take that extra step.

People open it because the subject line was interesting. Then they read the first two paragraphs, realize it's a pitch, and move on. No reply.
The issue is you're pitching before you've earned the right to pitch. You're trying to close before you've even opened a real conversation.
What actually works is leading with something that makes the person feel like you get them. Not their company - them. Their specific situation, their problem, the thing they're dealing with right now.
Here are the things that make someone stop and respond:
Not generic. Not
